HOMING IN on the time-saving advantages of using Cape Town as the port of entry for US imports, Concordia International has carved a distinctive niche in the time-sensitive cargo market. “We offer weekly seafreight groupages into Cape Town,” says managing director Richard Rattray. “It’s the first port of call from the US, and by using only roadfreight on the Gauteng leg we ensure that cargo reaches Johannesburg 48 hours after the vessel has docked in Cape Town. “Containers are unpacked at our Isando depot and deliveries to agents take less than ten minutes,” he said. Concordia, whose original focus was airfreight, introduced the speedy seafreight option recently. The strong rand and buoyant local economy have translated into exceptional growth on the route, said Rattray.
