As buyers’
requirements
constantly change,
consolidators
must evolve and adjust to
meet them, according to
Moshe Zulberg, training and
marketing manager of freight
systems specialists, Compu-
Clearing.
“The implementation of
a well-developed and up-todate
information technology
(IT) system can make a major
difference in avoiding delays
and expenses,” he told FTW,
“as well as ensuring efficient
planning and organising of all
stages of the shipment.”
And consolidators have
system needs that go far
beyond the demands of the
standard clearing agent.
“Consolidators require
multi modal systems,”
said Zulberg, “which are
compatible with their
local ports authority and
customs offices. They also
deal with multiple suppliers
and customers, each with
their own unique needs and
requirements.
“There is much paperwork
that needs to be controlled
as different documents and
processes are required for
different job types. These
documents also need to be
stored as they are often called
for at a later stage.”
Consolidators need a
customised solution. “And,”
said Zulberg, “ediEnterprise
is just that.
“Compu-Clearing,
along with our partner
CargoWise, offers a
complete single platform
for freight forwarders and
consolidators.”
He pointed out that the
ediEnterprise system offered
forwarding, breakbulk and
de-groupage modules as well
as an online quoting and
order management system.
The importers and exporters
can also access these modules
via the web tracker.
“The booking system
allows for fast acceptance
of bookings and the
production of spot quotes and
estimates,” said Zulberg. “The
scheduling system allows
for the electronic receipt of
schedules from shipping lines
and airlines for automatic
schedule creation. There is
also a publication capability
that allows the operator to
create a schedule and publish
it to their client on a secure
web page.”
The system also includes
a Buyers Consol System
(BCS). This allows for the
efficient capture of buyer
consolidations,
where a
single
consignee receives from
multiple consignors.
“The BCS allows you
to attach all of the related
shipments under a single
sub-master house shipment,”
Zulberg said. “You can also
do all tracking, invoicing
and tasks against that
single shipment for all the
shipments attached.”
Furthermore, in addition
to being a complete
operational system, it also
includes a complete financial
package. “All systems are fully
integrated and linked to a
complete accounting system,”
he said, “which includes
automatic invoicing.”
The system is capable of
producing all documents in
both paper and digital form,
for the electronic submission
to customs.
“The ediEnterprise solution
is directly integrated into
the cClearing system which
covers all customs clearing
requirements,” said Zulberg.
