AFTER CONSOLIDATING and strengthening its business interests locally, freight forwarding and transport company Compass Logistics has set its sights further north. “A strategic decision was taken a few years ago to venture deep into Africa and our efforts are beginning to bear fruit,” says Compass Logistics’ Ronald Naidoo. “There is steady growth in our airfreight activities in several African countries, including Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. “We are continuing to build on our vision of being among the continent’s leaders in logistics and transport solutions while making some small contribution to Africa’s economic renaissance.” The company has appointed agents in several African destinations to streamline cargo flow and has forged joint ventures, alliances and partnerships with customers and service providers. “We are currently looking at extending our services into West Africa to provide supply chain solutions to Abidjan, Nigeria, Angola and Ghana. We anticipate that these additional destinations will complete our vision of representation in the greater African region and help us grow our market share and service key markets. “Using Johannesburg International Airport as a transhipment hub, Compass Logistics arranges onward movement of goods to offline destinations not generally covered by mainline carriers.” The company specialises in time-sensitive, high value goods.
