‘Companies need to sell themselves’

Employing the right person for the right job not only has the potential to save thousands of rands, but also goes a long way in helping to manage a company’s reputation. “Many companies, even those with highly developed human resources departments, don't seem to grasp the value of a streamlined and efficient recruitment process,” says George Theodossion, CEO of X-act Placements. “A candidate’s first contact with a company is more than likely their first experience and will serve as a basis for a crucial opinion of that company and of the decision to associate with the company.” Theodossion says it is therefore necessary that companies sell themselves during the interview process to attract the best people. “Often overly lengthy response times or drawn-out feedback after the submission of a CV changes a candidate’s upbeat and positive impression to one that is negative and filled with disappointment.” He says this can be managed by securing an agency that understands the essence of your company. “A reputable recruitment agency will submit a maximum of three relevant CVs of candidates who would be ideally suited to a specific job and the culture of a company. It is about finding the right person for the right job rather than throwing a bunch of darts at the board, hoping that one will stick.”
