CFR’s new agency network opens new routes

Services reflect growth of Far East imports JOY ORLEK TWO MONTHS since its change of agency network in Europe and Brazil, independent consolidator CFR Freight is well satisfied with the bedding down of its services and the extensive support received from its local and overseas clients, says managing director Martin Keck. “Through the takeover of new agents we have been able to extend our network. We now offer regular services from the Brazilian ports of Itajai, Porto Allegre, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro, all via Santos directly to South Africa, as well as a weekly direct option from Istanbul in Turkey to Durban. We’ve been encouraged by the smooth transition,” he said. Plugging into the needs of its customers, CFR has reaped the benefits of steady growth from the Far East. “From China alone we are currently offering direct weekly services from six different ports into South Africa,” he said. “On the export side we have added services to the Indian Ocean Islands of Madagascar and Reunion. These complement our well established routes to Mauritius and the Seychelles.” The company’s airfreight division has been equally buoyant, he added, with staff fielding an increasing number of import and export enquiries worldwide. “So much so that we are looking at moving into larger premises,” he said. “Our outlook for the year ahead is a very positive one.”
