CARGOCARE Freight Services (KZN) will host a 40-strong delegation of forwarding agents from around the globe when the international Forwarding Agency Network Association (FANA) convenes in Umhlanga for its AGM in October this year. It’s the first time the event has been held in South Africa and will be hosted by the only African FANA member, Cargocare Durban, which joined the grouping in 1999. Currently FANA is represented in 36 countries around the world. “As a young company Cargocare is particularly proud that South Africa was accepted as the 2006 host. This ranks alongside previous venues such as Ho Chi Min City, Hamburg, Montreal and Hong Kong,” said Durban MD Joe de Villiers. The association was established in 1992 in Hong Kong, with one of the key conditions of membership being hands-on operation by the owner. De Villiers believes this is an important factor, creating a firm foundation for co-operation between like-minded members. “This translates into owner driven service for customers."
