Cargocare achieves BEE objectives

… and celebrates a decade of growth ALAN PEAT A DECADE of good growth is one of the reasons for Cargocare Freight celebrating its 10th birthday on July 1. “In the first five years, we grew in excess of 80% per annum,” said MD Roland Raath – also now sole owner since buying out his partner’s share. “In the past five years, with a bigger base, we have consolidated, and maintained growth of about 20%-25% a year. “The company has matured very well, and we are confidently progressing into the future.” Another reason for celebrating, according to Raath, is that the company achieved its black economic empowerment (BEE) aims in April and looks forward to reaping the benefits. “Over the last seven years we’ve been taking in the right people,” he said, “and, with on-going training, they are now people who deserve their place in our BEE set-up.” Raath also doesn’t hesitate in heaping praise on business consultant, Keith Orffer. “He helped us implement BEE in just five months – start to finish.” Another contributory factor in the company’s healthy growth in the last 10 years is it s membership of the global partnership in the CTN network, of which Raath is currently chairman. “This is 67 offices in 42 countries and is a network which gives us a true global presence.” Raath described the last 10 years as “very enjoyable”. “It’s all a bit of a blur,” he added, “and has gone by so fast.” But Cargocare is here for the long-term, he added. “Part of preparing for this is in continually upgrading our software, moving towards making our logistics business completely seamless.
