Cargo Info simplifies customs tariff

Just a click and info is at hand

ALL YOU ever want to know about Customs Tariff information - and more still to come.
That's the exciting promise behind Cargo Info Africa's totally restructured web pages - with a whole new field of information flowing from the files of customs database creators CSS.
"It's the most comprehensive customs tariff information put on the Internet anywhere," said Mike Marsh, the Cargo Info Africa brain behind the programme.
"9 000 pages updated every Friday.
"Absolutely reader-friendly, and a host of new facts and figures."
Gaile Thompson, editor of Cargo Info, is of the same mind.
"The most important thing is that the reader will now be able to clearly understand what appears on the screen," she told FTW. "They no longer need to have a degree in customs affairs."
There are also the on-site house pages. "Just a click on the active word," said Thomson, "and up comes the house page with all the information on the subject displayed in-depth."
New modules on trade issues like the European Union (EU) trade pact and Zimbabwe trade; easy-to-read codes; search facility; and all clear and easy to work, Thomson added.
"People will now be able to get all this information free and on-line from the Internet," she told FTW. "Or they can join CSS's subscription service for even more in-depth data and customs tariff calculations."
And there's more in the pipeline, according to CSS m.d. Roger Shaw.
"We are currently working on other modules, which will make the customs tariff section of Cargo Info the mightiest information tool available on the Internet," he said.
"Even more exciting things are about to happen as we do a major upgrade on the website."
