CARGO CARRIERS have signed a five-year contract to transport Namascor's steel products to Pretoria, across the Reef and further where necessary.
As a result Cargo Carriers has refurbished and re-painted the contract fleet of eight 4x2 truck tractor plus tandem trailers and two rigid vehicles. They are based at Namascor's Roodekop premises under supervision of CC's branch manager Johnny Abbott.
The carriers are now able to contribute to the the total supply chain from raw material to finished product as they already deliver steel from Iscor to Namascor.
Cargo Carriers has also announced a boost in profit before tax of 72,4% to R12 million and its earnings per share by 71,2% in its annual financial report, an increase of 6% over the previous year.
The improvements have been realised through greater efficiency and the benefits of corporate restructuring, says joint c.e.o. Murray Bolton. An improved agricultural sector has also contributed.
The company recently went live with its advanced operations management system at its Alrode general freight division headquarters. An integrated satellite tracking system is currently being installed in conjunction with the system.
