ADVANCED CUSTOMS Solutions has recorded significant growth in new business following the opening of an office in Cape Town last year, says Bart van der Boom who heads up the Mother City operation. “Our full windows-based system and its ease of use and functionality have been major selling points for new clients,” says Van der Boom. “A lot of the new business generated has come from agents who previously did their customs entries by hand. With the introduction of the electronic SAD documents, they have had to acquire a computerised system.” The ACS system caters for sea and air imports and exports, air and sea groupage and also incorporates a fully integrated accounting module which runs from invoicing through to balance sheet. “The introduction of this module means that agents no longer have to capture invoices and disbursements into another accounting system,” says Van der Boom. “They are automatically posted from the freight system.” But the package provided by ACS extends beyond the product, he added. “Service is a major priority with the focus on building healthy working relationships with all newcomers to the ACS family.”
