RAY SMUTS STRONG WINDS necessitated an eight-hour halt to work on the P&O Nedlloyd Livingstone and Safmarine Illovo at the Cape Town container terminal last Saturday night. Planning officer David Davids says the work stoppage was implemented between 15:00 and 23:00 prior to and after which five cranes were operational (A sixth is undergoing planned maintenance). The MSC Korea entered the terminal for a short while and then sailed again while the Ever Gaining was delayed for 23 hours as she awaited berth 601, occupied by the Tugela.
