Bullish outlook for bulk

Despite the economic
slowdown, the outlook
for the bulk cargo sector
remains bullish judging by
the amount of project cargo
being moved for the sector.
According to Ryan
Amos, marketing manager
for heavy-lift specialist
Mammoet, the company
has been involved in several
projects in recent months
with some ongoing and
others in the planning
stage.
“Five LPG pressure
vessels or bullets weighing
584 metric tons each and
the largest of their kind in
Africa and the southern
hemisphere were recently
transported and installed
at the Sunrise Energy Site
in Saldanha,” said Amos.
South Africa was
currently experiencing
a shortage of liquid
petroleum gas (LPG) and
demand was increasing,
he said.
To meet the country’s
needs, Sunrise Energy
is in the process of
constructing an LPG
Import Terminal in
Saldanha – scheduled for
commissioning in April
2017.
