Buffalo returns to Hazchem arena

DANGEROUS GOODS and hazardous chemical transportation and handling are riddled with regulations and potential problems. This was the initial focus of Buffalo Freight Systems and a niche to which it is planning to return. “Buffalo Freight has been taken over by Steinhoff, one of the largest exporters out of China, and has been placed in the Unitrans stable, the biggest road haulier in Southern Africa,” says MD Margrit Wolff. Steinhoff exported 60 000 containers out of China last year, with the Buffalo Freight acquisition a logical extension of Unitrans business, offering an international leg and a more complete supply chain solution. “We are in negotiation with Unitrans to utilise their expertise which will allow us to return to the hazchem arena, with full warehousing and packaging capabilities under one roof,” says Wolff.
