The budget airline, FlyAfrica, may be opening a network of domestic flights in Mozambique in the first half of this year, according to João de Abreu, the president of the Civil Aviation Institute of Mozambique (IACM).
Whether this is designed to replace or complement the domestic services of Mozambique state carrier, LAM, is not revealed.
FlyAfrica is to be based in Beira, and will soon announce the routes it plans to operate - including provincial capitals, Abreu added.
According to the Planespotters website, the Zimbabwe-based carrier, formed in 2014, has a fleet of two Boeing 737-55S aircraft, with a third due to be delivered.
