Botswana Consolidators plans network expansion

2010 is proving to be a year of new beginnings for Botswana Consolidators. The company has not only moved into new premises, but also made some key new appointments. According to owner Kitty Hewitt, the new premises in Spartan on the East Rand are already proving to be a worthwhile investment. “We moved in over the Christmas period but only officially started working from here in the first week of January – it has been a bit of an adjustment, but it is a definite improvement.” Not only do they now have significantly more space, but the premises also provide safe parking for the company’s fleet of trucks. “The building was purchased at auction and suits our needs perfectly. The yard is bigger as is the warehouse which fits in well with our plans for the coming months.” Hewitt and her team are geared up to take Botswana Consolidators to the next level. Celebrating its ten-year anniversary in March, the company is set to expand its network further into Africa in 2010. To help facilitate this, Wayne Pepler, an expert on Zambia with many years of industry experience, has joined the team as warehouse manager. In the interests of improving service levels, Lizelle Malherbe is heading off to Botswana to manage and control the distribution on the Botswana side. “We have also bought some new vehicles and by extending our fleet we can now do more express deliveries.” The company has applied for a bonded warehouse to bolster its international clearing and shipping offering.
