Border post efficiency key to delivery

Ensuring the smooth transit of exports and imports across southern African borders relies heavily on the efficiency of border posts as well as experience in dealing with uniquely African challenges, says managing director of Chavda Freight, Mahaveer Chavda. “In our experience, the most efficient border posts are Ressano Garcia in Maputo, Mozambique; Machipanda in Manica Mozambique; and Nyamapanda in Zimbabwe,” he says. He told FTW that the company’s experience in dealing with challenges in Africa had stood it in “good stead” since the launch of Chavda Freight in 2008. “We also have staff who are f luent in Portuguese which helps to smooth things over and ensure faster clearance at Mozambique and Angolan borders,” he said.
