THE ZIMBABWE government will continue with its blitz against smuggling, known as Operation Bhadari, says finance minister Herbert Murerwa.
The minister acknowledges that transport companies have suffered from delays at border posts as a result, but says that valuable lessons have been learnt. Some companies say they have been losing R2 000 a day.
One of the measures has been the clearance of all cargo for
Bulawayo in Harare.
Says the minister: We appreciate that the campaign will not help the economy if there are long delays. But we want to catch the culprits involved in excise and duty evasion.
