BOOKINGS ARE steadily building for the FIATA2004 Congress - “Gateway to Africa” - being held at Sun City from September 19-24, according to chairman of the organising committee, Ed Little. The Congress will be hosted by the South African Association of Freight Forwarders (SAAFF) and is expecting 1000 delegates from over 80 countries. “The freight logistics world has become aware of the untapped potential of the continent and the first-ever congress in Africa is on-track,” said Little. In addition to global issues, the congress will focus on matters relating to transport in Africa. “It will assist African economies in their striving to become mainstream players in global trade,” said FIATA president, Issa Baluch. “Education will also be a focal point,” said Little, who is also chairman of the FIATA Training Advisory Board. “We hope to see the validation of a number of new FIATA Diploma courses at Sun City and we remain committed to giving the industry the lead in international-standard training.”
