A group of black industrialists will explore investment opportunities in Tanzania as part of a trade mission organised by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) to Dar es Salaam on March 15-21.
The dti announced in December last year that it had reserved R40 billion to support industrialists over the next five years and help position them to move into the wider African market.
“Our focus is deliberately and strategically on the Southern African Development Community countries because we want assist black Industrialists who have proven themselves in the domestic market to gradually expand their footprint into the region before extending to the rest of the continent and other parts of the globe,” said deputy trade and industry minister Nomalungelo Gina.
Bilateral trade between South Africa amounted to R7.2 billion in 2019, dominated by South African manufacturing exports which accounted for R6.8 billion.
