Terry Hutson BIDFREIGHT INTERMODAL is set to reinvent itself as a fully independent, non-aligned intermodal logistics company, servicing the entire market place from manufacturers, importers and exporters to freight forwarders and shipping lines. This follows the company's low-profile launch last year as a new intermodal division servicing mainly the Bidfreight Group. The step forward follows major new initiatives which see national operations represented in Durban, City Deep, Pretoria, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, with over-border initiatives to be revealed shortly. Several senior appointments have been announced in line with these developments. Stepping into the role of chairman of Bidfreight Intermodal is Mike Atter, who until the end of June was managing director of Rennies Ships Agency. James Reddy takes up the post of managing director of BI, Segie Nair and Dean Francis have been appointed regional executives for Durban and Pretoria respectively, and Jacky Kearney has been appointed national marketing executive, based in Johannesburg. Further senior appointments are due to be announced next month (August).
