NAIROBI-BASED cargo carrier Astral Aviation has launched a twice-weekly scheduled freighter service between Johannesburg – Nairobi effective October 8. A B747-400 freighter with capacity for 110 tons per flight is deployed on the route which is operated by Emirates with whom Astral Aviation entered into a code-share agreement in June 2007. This is in addition to its interline agreement with Emirates which was signed in Dubai in February 2006. Onward connections are available through the airline’s network to Dar-es-Salaam, Mwanza, Zanzibar, Juba, Kigali and Bujumbura.
