NOW NINE more major shipping lines have joined up with an e-business platform technology vendor to create the second neutral sea transportation portal on the Internet.
This multi-million project - currently codenamed Global Transportation Network (GTN) - follows the first multi-line portal INTTRA by a month.
The lines in the new cyber-venture are: APL; CP Ships; Hanjin; Hyundai; K Line; Mitsui-OSK; Senator Line; Yangming and Zim Israel. Other carriers could also become involved in the project.
The transportation execution vendor is US-based Tradiant whose c.e.o., Aaron Sasson, will also head up GTN.
In today's e-business world, he said, with an emphasis on supply chain velocity, transportation execution becomes a highly critical component of the global supply chain.
The lines are looking for a launch-date in the first quarter of 2001.
Maritime Carrier Shipping also recently entered into an alliance with e-business facilitator metaship to create a process platform with a standard interface with its customers.
