Almar restructures into three divisions

ALMAR CONTAINERS has consolidated its three group companies into a new company Almar Container Group, operating three divisions each representing core business units. Alistair Forbes is the group managing director.
The Almar Agencies Division, with directors Barbara Steveni, Dave McKerchar and Richard Tiddy, will be responsible for international container leasing and trading through their representation of international principals. These include major US container lessor Transamerica Leasing and one-way leasing and container trading specialists Almar Trading Corporation.
The domestic container sales, rental and conversions division will continue to operate under the name of Almar Containers, based in Johannesburg, and with Chris van der Vyver as director. The division is actively involved in these activities throughout South Africa and neighbouring territories.
The container tarpaulins and truck covers division, overseen by director Keith Coetzee, will operate under the name Almar Tarps and Covers, handling repair contracting and tarpauling supplies to the container and road transport industries.
The increased use of one-way containers as a means of encouraging exports to new trading areas has been one of the group's major growth points, says Forbes. A further positive growth area is the use of retired marine containers for community based projects such as schools, clinics, telephone kiosks and numerous other items.
