AIRLINK recently launched a Madagascar service, flying three times a week on the route using B737 aircraft. Flights operate on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Through its cargo GSSA, The Cargo Connection (TCC), Airlink has reached a reciprocal agreement with Air Madagascar in terms of which each sells space on both airlines’ services in order to offer shippers a total of six services per week. Air Madagascar operates on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, also with B737 aircraft. “Our mutual interest is in developing this market,” says TCC chairman Gerd von Mansberg, “so it makes sense for us to cooperate. Madagascar is fast becoming a popular holiday destination for South Africans. On the cargo side this tourism growth is fuelling demand for virtually every commodity except the perishables which are grown on the island.”
