THE AIRFREIGHT industry literally got into the swing of things at Kempton Park Golf Course recently for the inaugural golf day of the Air Cargo Operators Committee (ACOC). But more than a fun networking day for all involved, it raised R44 300 for the East Rand Children’s Haven, nominated as the initial charity to benefit from what is planned to be a regular future event. The East Rand home was saved from demolition two years ago by Fast International GSA managing director Gary Murphy, who raised the necessary capital required to prevent it from being absorbed into a housing development scheme. It now serves as a haven for two dozen destitute children.
