Emirates SkyCargo has outlined a robust expansion strategy for 2026, building on significant investments in fleet, network and products during 2025.
Divisional senior vice president for the freight division of Emirates, Badr Abbas, said 2025 had laid the foundation for further growth, with 2026 expected to be pivotal due to the anticipated delivery of up to 10 Boeing 777 freighters by year-end.
The carrier took delivery of three 777Fs in 2025, enabling the retirement of older aircraft and maintaining one of the youngest freighter fleets in the industry. The current fleet comprises 11 owned 777Fs and five wet-leased Boeing 747s.
Emirates SkyCargo said in a statement that its passenger-to-freighter conversion programme had also begun, with the first converted aircraft due to enter service in 2026. By the end of 2026 the company aims to have a minimum of 21 freighters.
Network expansion in 2025 saw freighter services launched to eight new destinations: Copenhagen, Narita, Bangkok, Mumbai, Beirut, Conakry, Phnom Penh and Hanoi. Additional frequencies were added on routes including Guangzhou, Shanghai and Johannesburg.
New interline agreements were signed with Astral Aviation in Africa and Teleport in Southeast Asia, enhancing connectivity to secondary and tertiary markets.
On the operational side, the carrier noted that it took delivery of 40 low-emission Euro 6 trucks and plans to add five hydrogen-powered vehicles in Q1 2026. A collaboration with LODD Autonomous will explore VTOL aircraft for first- and last-mile delivery.
Digital bookings reached nearly 80% by December 2025, supported by eSkyCargo and API integrations. Emirates SkyCargo became the first regional carrier to implement PayCargo for instant payments.
Product highlights included the launch of Emirates Courier Express, a door-to-door service that has handled over 50 000 packages globally. New specialised verticals in aerospace and engineering saw a rise in aircraft engine movements. The fresh perishables segment grew 10%, adding 25 700 tonnes, while pharmaceutical volumes increased 54% and secure electronics solutions rose 30%.
As part of its long-term strategy Emirates SkyCargo aims to double capacity, add 20 new freighter destinations and advance digital-first services to support global trade.
