Africa’s growth momentum building up

It’s been a relatively smooth ride for most countries in sub-Saharan Africa in the past six months – and they’re expected to continue to build on this momentum for the rest of the year.

That's the message from Celeste Fauconnier, RMB Africa analyst.

“Although this growth impetus stems mostly from improved commodity prices, we are starting to see countries taking structural transformation more seriously. Of the more developed SSA markets, most are now focusing on the composition of their GDPs and on how they can grow their respective domestic revenues. Against a backdrop of increasing capital mobility Africa is moving towards more sustainable sources of balance of payments funding to support meaningful economic growth.”
