African island state to have direct sea link to mainland

According to Cape Verde’s minister of foreign affairs, Jorge Tolentino, funding has been made available for a direct sea link between Praia, the capital of his island community off the coast of Western Africa, and the Port of Dakar in Senegal – a distance of 1039.07 kilometres.

The Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) is to provide the finance, he told the publication, Macauhub.

And, Tolentino added, direct shipping links were “a project that we have come to cherish and which has now been accepted and taken on by the President of Senegal, Macky Sall”.
