PRACTICAL, COST-effective logistics is the name of the game at transporters Unidel.
With over 50-years of collective transport experience in the abnormal and superload industry, no load is too big for us - in fact the bigger the better, says managing director Rick de Smidt.
The company provides a comprehensive product range from route surveys and permit applications to the actual move.
And its gallery at www.unidel.co.za displays some of the projects it has worked on in the past - including one of the highest loads transported to the north of Zambia in the history of African transport.
Unidel operates by road all over sub-Saharan Africa as far as the Central African Republic.
“We are proud to say that we are breaking new ground everyday,” De Smidt told FTW.
“All loads are tracked on a daily basis and a report is lodged with the client regarding the status of their goods on the road.”
The Unidel infrastructure throughout the southern African region is designed to ensure that the company controls the cargo movement all the way to the destination.
“Licensed for clearing and forwarding,” said De Smidt, “we also offer intermodal options for imports and exports through the Port of Durban and globally.”
The company handles a wide range of clients’ documentation requirements as well as the road transport required to service SA, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Uganda.
“We are in Africa for the longhaul,” said De Smidt.
