ANDRÉ VAN Rensburg has taken over as managing director at logistics major Kuehne + Nagel, based at head office in Longmeadow West.
Durban-born, his career in the freight industry began in 1968 with William Cotts. He joined K+N 17 years ago, heading up the Durban branch for ten years before moving to Gauteng where he has been national seafreight manager for the past seven years.
An optimist by nature, he foresees continued growth for the company which expects the rapid growth of the past two years to accelerate further. The group expects to handle two million containers worldwide this year.
Van Rensburg believes that happy staff equals happy clients, which is why staff motivation will be a key focus in the months ahead. This, he is confident, will ensure retention of existing customers and open up new opportunities for business growth.
“We have achieved A-rated accreditation with SA Revenue Service and our goal will be to ensure that we not only maintain it but enhance our standing with SARS.”
Previous MD Hylton Gray is believed to be taking over the reins at another forwarding major.
