Airfreight Controller

Our client, a dynamic and internationally recognized Freight Forwarding and Logistics company is seeking an experienced Senior Airfreight Controller to join their Johannesburg team and play a vital role in ensuring seamless airfreight operations.

As a Senior Airfreight Controller, you will be at the heart of the operation, ensuring air shipments are processed efficiently and clients receive exceptional service every step of the way. 

Responsibilities:

• Communicate with client services representatives and origin/destination agents regarding shipments.
• Receive and process pre-alerts for incoming shipments.
• Register consol files promptly on CargoWise and track shipments with carriers.
• Complete RCG where required and ensure full consignment is received, updating all parties.
• Verify client account status before invoicing and ensure CBO payments are received before dispatch.
• Submit documents to plant, port health, and state vet authorities for cargo release.
• Inform CS of damaged cargo or any stops (CBCU etc).
• Send daily status updates and manage daily/monthly reports as instructed.
• Check WIPs and accruals on Profit and Loss tab.
• Follow standard process flows for files and escalate deviations to supervisors.
• Ensure all milestones are completed and every file is handled to the highest standard.

Requirements:

• Matric / Senior Certificate (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of airfreight operations experience.
• Strong ability to maintain and grow client relationship.
• CargoWise experience (advantageous).
