Our client, a well-established international freight forwarding and logistics company, is looking to appoint an Export Manager to lead their Cape Town export operations. This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to shape processes, mentor a team and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.
Reporting into senior management, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day export function while managing a team of 4 Export Controllers. You will ensure operational excellence, maintain high service levels and drive efficiencies across the department. The business has a strong presence within the perishables, wine, fruit and general cargo sectors, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced export environment.
Duties:
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of 4 Export Controllers.
- Oversee the full export process, ensuring shipments are executed efficiently and compliantly.
- Drive operational performance, service excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor team productivity and provide support where required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, shipping lines and service providers.
- Ensure all export documentation and regulatory requirements are met.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Previous management experience within freight forwarding exports (non-negotiable).
- Strong knowledge of export operations across all modes of transport, with exposure to perishables highly advantageous.
- Experience handling wine, fruit, perishables and general cargo shipments will be beneficial.
