A large international clearing and forwarding organisation is seeking an experienced and client-driven Oceanfreight Product Manager to take the lead in heading up their seafreight division in Cape Town.
Join our leading clearing and forwarding client where you will play an integral part in driving the growth and profitability of the seafreight division, through operational efforts and by supporting the sales team in growing the product.
This opportunity offers a monthly profit-share incentive, making it an exciting position for someone who is driven and motivated by results.
They are looking for a professional and experienced individual with 3–5 years’ experience in a Seafreight Manager role or a similar senior position. The ideal candidate will have strong operational expertise while also having experience supporting commercial activities, identifying opportunities and contributing towards business growth.
Duties:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the seafreight division, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently and in line with company and client requirements.
- Drive operational efficiency, service delivery and continuous improvement across the seafreight department.
- Manage and support the seafreight team, providing leadership, guidance and performance management where required.
- Work closely with the commercial team to identify new business opportunities and support the growth of the seafreight division.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with key clients, service providers and international offices/partners.
- Monitor divisional performance, profitability and operational costs, identifying areas for improvement and growth.
- Assist with pricing, tenders and commercial proposals where required.
- Ensure that operational processes, documentation and compliance requirements are consistently maintained.
- Resolve escalated operational and client-related issues efficiently and professionally.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities to strengthen the division’s offering.
Requirements:
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Seafreight Manager role or similar senior seafreight position.
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle.
- Strong operational knowledge of the seafreight industry, including imports, exports and end-to-end forwarding processes.
- Proven commercial awareness with experience supporting business development and revenue growth.
- A strong understanding of freight forwarding processes, industry requirements and relevant documentation.
- Commercially driven with a strong understanding of profitability and cost management.
