Start-up date is 18 months late
THE ESTABLISHMENT of a customs and tax Revenue Authority in Zimbabwe has been delayed again.
Charles Kuwaza, permanent secretary for the finance ministry, has officially acknowledged that the authority will be set up sometime next year. Consultants have been employed from New Zealand and Trinidad and recently finished draft regulations, which include the introduction of VAT.
These things take time, says Kuwaza. When the authority is finally in operation it will be 18 months later than the original date planned for its establishment.
