Zim ups its exports to SA

A rise in Zimbabwean exports to South Africa has helped close its major trade deficit gap for the month of October, according to data released by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat).

In October, the deficit decreased by 22.3% -- narrowing to US$279.7 million from a deficit of US$360.1 million in September this year.

According to a Zimstat statement, this was primarily driven by a 13.6% growth in exports to South Africa and a 41% drop in imports from Singapore.

Zimbabwe exported goods worth US$177.8 million to South Africa last month, up from the US$153.5 million recorded in September.
