Zim rail quotes in dollars to beat currency problems

ZIMBABWE'S GYRATING currency has led to the railway authorities quoting freight charges in U.S. dollars, based on a monthly average exchange rate against the Zimbabwe dollar.
For shippers going through Beira this brings an added complication, as CFM in Mozambique is quoting in rand while Beira port quotes in U.S. dollars.
A port users' meeting in Beira recently tried to persuade CFM to change to U.S. dollars, to no avail.
