Zimbabwe has received US$200m from the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) to import maize.
“We have arranged a facility of $200 million from Afreximbank and we will be importing from anywhere in the world,” said Zimbabwe Reserve Bank governor, John Mangudya.
The country only has 250 000 metric tonnes of maize in reserve that is expected to last until September this year. It needs to import around 700 000 tonnes to meet local needs.
