Zambia recorded a decline of 21 percent in international trade during the May-June period of this year, says the country’s Central Statistical Organisation (CSO). According to the institution’s monthly newsletter for July, Zambia’s exports dropped from K715736 million in May to K564947m in June. Imports however rose to K936 833m in June from K932 676m in May. The rise in import receipts was attributed to increased expenditure on chemical, vegetables, mineral products and motor vehicles. A reduction in export receipts was due to a fall in the value of textiles, prepared food and beverages and vegetable products.
