In 2019, the top 10 exports accounted for 89.7% of the overall value of global shipments.Among the top 10 the fastest-growing category was gems and precious metals.
Higher international demand for precious and semi-precious stones saw exports grow by 119.7% between 2018 and 2019.The second-highest growth was 21.8%, in exports of salt, sulphur, stone and cement.
Zambia’s shipments of sugar, including sugar confectionery, posted the third-highest growth, with value up by 13.5%.In contrast, the biggest drop was -33.4% in the value of exports of tobacco and manufactured substitutes.
