Zambia not in hurry to join COMESA

NOMPELO NDZIMELA THE ZAMBIAN president has announced that his country will not join the Common Market for Eastern and Southern African (COMESA) Customs Union, according to the Times of Zambia. The president said that certain remedial measures had to be put in place to ensure that the countryÕs revenue and other factors were not distorted once the country joined the Union which has a common tariff nomenclature. He addressed the media at Lusaka International Airport recently on his arrival from Uganda after attending the COMESA meeting where 11 heads of state were present.
