Zambia has not fully taken advantage of the Africa Growth Opportunity Act due to supply side constraints, says Zambia Development Agency’s Moses Simemba. Quoted on Agoa.info, Simemba said Zambia’s competitive advantage lay in the export of gemstones, floricultural and horticultural products such as cut flowers and high-value vegetables like mange tout and baby corn. “Currently Zambia has three vegetables eligible to be exported to the USA under Agoa. “However, we are unable to export garments and textile products to the USA because the sector has virtually collapsed because of competition from secondhand clothes and a lack of new investment in the sector.”
