ZAMBIA HAS joined the European Union, Hong Kong, Namibia and Switzerland in a ban on SA poultry products. This follows a recent outbreak of bird flu at an ostrich farm in the Eastern Cape. SA authorities have already culled close to 9000 ostriches on affected farms and ostrich farmers fear that losses will amount to R100-m.
