WHEN ZA Trans moved into its new Isando premises a year ago, management was satisfied that the vast new office and warehousing space would be more than adequate for the next decade.
“But we underestimated what was about to happen,” says chief executive Warren Erfmann. “Frankly, we are now bursting at the seams. We have 11 000m2 in the warehouse and 2 000m2 of office space in this building and it is all over-full. We now need more space. It’s something we will have to analyse very carefully in Gauteng during the next few months.”
Erfmann attributes a good deal of the space problem to the company’s recent merger with Barloworld Logistics, a move that has opened new business opportunities and resulted in staff growth.
“We’ve taken on new sales people. Exports are moving extremely well in spite of the stronger rand. Imports have really picked up, and that’s a sector which has shown marked new activity.
“With this goes a spirit of enthusiasm in the Gauteng market as a whole, which augurs well for the future.”
