Airport logistics facility on the cards

A HAPPY first birthday for World Net Logistics in Cape Town, which opened its doors on March 1 last year, and had “a whirlwind year in 2003”, according to director, Guntram Herles.
World Net is a member of the worldwide WACO system, he told FTW - which is a global logistics provider with over 45 partners in 400 offices on six continents and more than 8 000 specialists working together to serve their customers.
“We have also forged a partnership with the black empowerment group Dirang Logistics, “whose entity will remain independent,” said Herles.
World Net Logistics offers airfreight and ocean freight forwarding, customs clearing, warehousing and logistics services.
The company’s head office is located in Longmeadow, Johannesburg.
This includes the latest security technology in the form of a security vault.
“It also has 850m2 of office space, 4 800m2
of free storage and 800m2 of bonded facilities.
“Our warehouse (bond store, security vault and free store) can be customised to individual requirements.”
The company also has branches in Durban and East London.
“It is our philosophy to be close to both our international and local clientele,” said Herles, “providing them with a full range of freight forwarding and local customs brokerage.”
Herles and Cape Town branch manager Kerry de Beyer are supported by a skilled operations team, he told FTW.
“This team handles air and sea imports
and exports for general cargo, perishable cargo and numerous project logistics, such as the automotive, art and exhibition industries, and also specialises in wine logistics.
“The entire Cape Town team is familiar with the specific needs of the Cape market - and are able and committed to shape their products entirely around their customer needs.”
Currently on the drawing board, Herles told FTW, is a new logistics facility at Airport Industria.
