Metro Minds will soon be launching a workplace simulator to cater for the international logistics industry in order to get entry level employees ready for performance in terms of their knowledge, skills and attitudes – from the moment they start their job, says Juliette Fourie, CEO of the freight industryfocused training company. According to her, the complexities of regulations, external influences such as the foreign exchange rate, everincreasing economic challenges and competitive markets make it extremely difficult for logistics providers – including those in the express cargo industry – to operate efficiently. “The constraints don’t leave a lot of room for movement and are often a barrier to innovative solutions. Shared knowledge, as well as hands-on practical training, breaches a lot of those restrictions,” says Fourie. “We need business to invest their time and their branding in this, and show off their innovative supply chain processes to expose a talent pool of people to the best of the best,” she comments, adding that Metro Minds drives its own training solutions with experts from across the full industry spectrum. Metro Minds has launched a few new projects which focus on driving entrepreneurial spirit and leadership by providing practical, small businessrelated training, which will be done in conjunction with The Leadership Boss of the Year Association. “To drive this even further, I will be a judge at the annual Business Women of The Year Awards and focus on the underestimated influence of women in business,” Fourie points out. She told FTW that the company had also partnered with a highly qualified maths and science expert to address the gaps Metro Minds has identified over the years, particularly relating to mathematics.
