Demand for SA
wine and curios
is creating
opportunities
for smaller producers and
exporters to grow their market
share abroad, according to
international global supply
chain enterprise solutions
company, Tigers Limited.
Paul Lawrence, managing
director of Tigers South Africa,
said the company had noticed
an increase in the
export of goods such
as furniture, wine and
curios to the US where
it offered specialist
2C (to customer)
services.
“Encouragingly,
the number of small
exporters in this
sector is growing and
getting exposure
to the US market,”
Lawrence said.
He added that US imports
into SA such as goods for
the gaming sector, niche
automotive parts and
industrial
machinery,
parts and
accessories
remained
strong.
Tigers has
14 of its own
offices across
the USA
including
Boston,
Chicago, New
York, Atlanta,
Miami,
Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles,
San Francisco and Seattle.
“We have seen steady
support from our client
base, mostly on airfreight, as
customers try to manage the
exchange rate impact with
the rand having weakened
against most
currencies,” he
said.
Tigers
specialises in
supply chain
solutions,
e-fulfilment,
perishables and
transportation
by air, sea and
road and has a
global network
of agents
including an
exclusive global arrangement
with Task, a Brazilian logistics
group.
“These have come from our
association with the Force and
IFLN networks of companies
and as part of the Tigers
network of agents,” he said.
Lawrence added that the
company was one of only
a handful of international
logistics groups that operated
on a cloud-based uniform
operating platform in all
countries, providing a one
system approach to managing
logistics.
Tigers operates 35 omnidistribution
hubs across
China, the USA, Germany,
the Netherlands, Switzerland,
the UK, Australia, Malaysia
and South Africa, offering
a uniform eCommerce
fulfilment solution
encompassing the final mile
and returns business.
