ALTHOUGH THE rand has been in the 8-1 euro area for two years, and has moved in the 5.60-6.90 to the US dollar range, the rand could weaken still further in the first half of next year, according to Dr Cees Bruggemans, chief economist of First National Bank. He forecasts that a 6.50-7.50:$ and 7.75-8.75:€ period could be looming.
