The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) is actively promoting the port of Walvis Bay and the corridors in a number of countries exporting to the SADC. Delegations went to Sweden in 2008 and Finland in 2010. This year the marketing efforts are being stepped up, with visits to Brazil, Germany and Belgium. “We want to convince decision-makers on the other side to make use of the corridors,” says WBCG CEO Johny Smith. “The corridors have been proved to reduce the cost of doing business in the region, and by promoting trade through the port of Walvis Bay, we will be adding value to the region – with a spin-off for Namibia,” he says.
