THE FIRST anniversary of the tie-up between Durban-based Voigt Shipping and the UK's giant international distribution group, Inchcape, is a happy birthday, according to Voigt m.d. Paul Voigt.
The merger has worked very well since it started, he told FTW. We are already seeing the benefits of being part of a large, global operation.
Inchcape has a turnover of around
£6-billion (R48-bn), and employs over 33 000 people in 254 offices in 67 countries. Through this relationship we have become truly multi-national, said Voigt. With the Inchcape global network effectively selling our services around the world.
With its charter agency business mostly in the non-liner side of shipping, Voigt Shipping has now become a big player in the SA bulk shipping market.
We're growing all the time said Voigt, with staff numbers around the country increasing, and us just having opened an office in Johannesburg (headed by Rod Eaton).
It's a very happy marriage, and we are very enthusiastic about the future.
