KEVIN MAYHEW UPS has introduced software to meet all delivery needs on both the domestic and international fronts. “UPS WorldShip is a response to a customer’s need for dependable processing of shipments,” says Paul Horsfall, managing director of UPS SCS South Africa. “It allows businesses to streamline, accelerate and enhance the entire shipment process; and it can be used on a stand-alone computer or a local area network. Its visibility and tracking capacity sets it apart from its competitors,” says Horsfall. Its Quantum View Notify (QVN) feature provides an e-mail notification that informs both customer and recipient when a shipment has been sent, if it has been delayed, and when it is delivered. It also generates approved UPS shipping labels with reference data, custom barcode and company logo and has the ability to receive and print very detailed proof-of-delivery information. In addition it can customise default settings such as package type and service level to match preferences and streamline shipment processing. “From the courier perspective, this involves one facility for all elements of shipment: from forwarding through clearing to distribution, via all mediums – land, sea and air – and to any destination, domestically and internationally,” said Horsfall.
